0:00 There is a passage in Galatians that I used to think about often, and I thought about it in terms of the American experiment, the Lord says in Galatians. Behold, I give you freedom. And it's the declaration that someone's freedom comes not from a state, not from government. But if you're a person of faith that freedom is divinely granted, right? In some ways, it's the argument of how the nation, our nation broke off. The very natural rights of man.
0:40 And the next line says not to serve yourself, not to serve flesh, but to serve each other. We've been given this, this precious gift of freedom, and to use that to serve each other and not to serve yourself has applications, certainly, for those who have given the last full measure of devotion in defense of the nation, but people who serve in their communities, right, that serve the hot meal at the shelter that's providing for someone without a home. For for the doctor who provides care without compensation, for the tutor or the teacher, the person that gives back to their community, or, sure, someone who steps into public life and offers to serve.
1:35 I mean, part of the greatness of the country, you know, what has made America great is our goodness, using our freedom that we have fought for, not to serve ourselves, but then to serve each other. Listen. That is the question right now. I think it's so much bigger than politics. And we let our politics kind of lead us into the darker shadows of culture.
2:10 When, when kind of the basics of who we are can lead us right back out into the light. I just think as a people we're so much better than where we are right now, and it's our politics that are trying to convince us otherwise. And so quieting those voices within our politics or yes, beating them at the ballot box and, and elevating into office people that believe in better man, that, to me, gets me excited about what the state and the country could look like and feel like. But then what we are gifting our kids, oh wow. We get into something so much bigger than a single election. We really do.
